  Throughout his career, Geoffrey Cowan has been an important force across a spectrum of communication and public policy arenas - as a lawyer, academic administrator, government official, best-selling author, distinguished professor, playwright, and Emmy Award-winning producer.

  From 1996-2007, he served as dean of the University of Southern California's Annenberg School for Communication & Journalism. In 2007, he was named a University Professor (one of 21 at the university), the inaugural holder of the Annenberg Family Chair in Communication Leadership and director of USC Annenberg's Center on Communication Leadership and Policy. He holds a joint appointment in the USC Gould School of Law and teaches courses in communication and journalism.

  When the City of Los Angeles sought to create an ethics code in 1989, Mayor Tom Bradley tapped Cowan to chair the Los Angeles commission that drafted a law that become a model for the nation - and for which he was awarded "Man of the Year" by the Council of Government Ethics Leaders. He chaired the California Bipartisan Commission on Internet Political Practices and served on the White House Fellows regional selection committee during the Clinton and Bush administrations.

  Jennifer Floto is a veteran public relations practitioner who has worked on both corporate and agency assignments. Her clients have included Acura, GTE, Mattel, and Xerox. She spent 10 years at TRW before doing stints at two of the world's leading agencies: Ketchum and Manning, Selvage & Lee. She has received numerous awards, including the Public Relations Society of America's Silver Anvil and the International Association of Business Communicators' Communicator of the Year. An accredited communicator, Floto continues to consult with such clients as the California Lottery, Intel, and the City of San Jose.

  Andrea B. Hollingshead is Professor of Communication in the Annenberg School for Communication & Journalism, and has joint appointments with the Marshall School of Business and the Department of Psychology. She is also Co-Director of the Annenberg Program on Online Communities (APOC) Research Initiative.

  Some of Professor Hollingshead’s current projects include: a large descriptive study of online brand communities for the top 100 global brands; experiments investigating how people judge the credibility and expertise of contributors on Facebook and in other online communities; and field studies examining how collaborative crowdsourcing applications can be used to facilitate innovation and problem-solving in medical and other contexts.

  Professor Hollingshead joined Annenberg in 2005 after serving on the faculty at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign for 12 years, where she was an award-winning teacher and researcher. She holds a B.A. in Psychology from Yale University and an M.A. and Ph.D. in Social Psychology from the University of Illinois. Prior to graduate school, Professor Hollingshead worked in marketing research and advertising.
